Grants + Finance: two teams, one record

Built for the people who win grants and the people who answer for them.

Grants + Finance gives each team its own workspace on the same grant record, so nothing gets retyped between them. Grants teams that aren't ready for the finance side can start with a grants plan and add it later.

A grant's year

From the first search to the auditor's last question.

Every grant moves through the same six stages. The team that owns each stage works in its own view, and the next team picks up where the last one left off.

  1. 01Grants

    Find

Funders ranked by how much they give to organizations like yours, plus open public programs. Track the ones you'll pursue.

  2. 02Both

    Award

Upload the agreement. Its terms come out with the line behind each one. Grants checks them, finance confirms the accounting.

  3. 03Grants

    Run

Every report and requirement has an owner and a reminder. Site directors send updates straight to the grant.

  4. 04Both

    Bill and release

Each month's claim is calculated for you. Grants marks it ready, finance approves it, and releases from restriction follow the spending.

  5. 05Finance

    Close

Load the general ledger and every grant is checked against its terms. Journal entry files go back to your accounting system.

  6. 06Finance

    Audit

The SEFA, receivables and restricted net asset schedules are ready, and the auditor's request list is answered from the same records.

Audit season

The SEFA builds itself from the grants you already track.

Each federal award carries its listing number, its pass-through entity and its subawards from the day it's set up. At year end the schedule is checked before it can be exported, and the app tells you whether your federal spending requires a Single Audit for that fiscal year.

  • Clusters and pass-throughs handled. Programs are grouped the way the Uniform Guidance expects.
  • Two people sign off. One prepares, a different person approves.
  • Excel and PDF. In the format your auditor asked for.

Fits how you already work

Keep your books. Add the grant work around them.

Your accounting system stays

Upload a general ledger export. Claims, releases and adjustments come back as journal entry files your system imports. There's nothing to migrate.

Everyone can sign in

Unlimited users on every plan. Finance, grants, site directors and staff each see their part, and executives get a free view-only role.

Your data stays yours

Your organization's records are visible only to your team. Download everything in one Excel file whenever you want it.

Pricing

Your price comes from your latest Form 990.

Plans are set by your organization's annual expenses on its most recent public filing, so every organization your size pays the same. Grants teams can start on their own; Grants + Finance adds the finance close.

Unlimited users on every plan, and AI grant writing included: about 5 full applications or 15 shorter foundation requests a month with Grants + Finance, about 3 full or 10 shorter on the grants plans.

Who built it

Built by someone who has lived audit season from both sides.

The Nonprofit Audit is made by Pemberlo, a Washington company founded by someone who works in nonprofit finance and has prepared for audits from the grants side and the finance side. It does the work he used to do by hand.

About Pemberlo

Questions

What teams ask before they start.

Which plan should we start with?

Grants + Finance, if your finance team bills grants, releases restricted funds or prepares for an audit. It keeps your books where they are and adds the grant close. A grants team working on its own can start with Grants Essentials or Grants and add finance later; nothing has to move.

Does The Nonprofit Audit audit us?

No. Your independent auditor performs your audit. Pemberlo is not a CPA firm, and The Nonprofit Audit doesn't perform audits or issue audit, review, compilation or attest reports. It keeps your grant records, schedules and SEFA ready for your auditor and helps you answer their requests from your own records. Your staff review and approve everything it prepares.

Does it replace our accounting system?

No. Your accounting system stays the book of record. The Nonprofit Audit reads your general ledger export and gives back journal entry files your system can import.

We don't have federal grants. Is it still for us?

Yes. Funder research, deadlines, budgets, grant receivables, releases from restriction and revenue recognition apply to foundation, corporate, state and local grants too. The SEFA simply stays empty until you need one.

Where do the funder suggestions come from?

From public IRS filings of about 135,000 private foundations, showing who they have actually funded, plus open federal, state and local grant programs.

How long does setup take?

Most teams start by uploading their current award letters and a general ledger export. The app reads the agreements, and a guided tour and how-to library walk each person through their part.

Does the assistant change our data?

No. Pembry, the assistant in the app, answers questions and can propose a change, but nothing changes until a person confirms it.

Who can see our information?

Only the people your organization invites, in the roles you give them. We don't sell your data or share it for advertising.
